Hi Marko, a party at Ada sounds like a fun idea. I am sure a lot of youth would want to attend the event and will have a lot of fun. The question a leader would ask is, what short term and long term benefit would this event serve the people for whom the event is intended for. When applying for any funding, the project leader will need to demonstrate the benefits of the project which will justify the grantor's decision to award the money.
Glad to hear that you have reached out the municipality authority. That's what good leaders do. They collaborate with others and work with different groups with different interests to achieve a unified goal.
Your idea can become a great idea if it has a clear set of goals and objectives that are S.M.A.R.T (see below) , and that targets a specific audience.
You'll need to be clear on
- Who are you arranging this event for? It has to be a lot more focused and specific than just "general public".
- What will your target audience do with this experience after the event is over? How will the event impact them?
- How will you achieve the desired impact on your target audience with this activity?
- When do you want to hold the event?
- What resources do you need to complete the task?
- Who you need to collaborate with to implement the project?
- What are the challenges and how do you plan to overcome them?
- What would be your follow up activity after this event?
Once you have answered the questions listed above, define your S.M.A.R.T. objectives to move those ideas into action. SMART objectives are:
Specific: Concrete, detailed, and well defined so that you know where you are going with a plan and what to expect when you have completed the task
Measurable: Numbers and quantities provide means of measurement and comparison
Achievable: feasible and easy to put into action
Realistic: Considers constraints such as resources, personnel, cost, and time frame
Time-Bound: A time frame helps to set boundaries around the objective
I would also encourage you to open a discussion page in BOLD forum with you idea. Try to address the questions above as much as you can and ask other BOLD members to give you feedback. They may help you put the missing pieces of the puzzle and come up with a solid project proposal.
Wish you all the best!
